Our client in the Steel Manufacturing Industry is looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer from South Africa to be placed in Amgola, who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment to support manufacturing operations. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical infrastructure and equipment in compliance with industry standards and regulations.2 year contract. Electrical System Design: Design electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation, to support manufacturing processes and equipment. Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications for electrical components and systems. Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and systems to identify and resolve issues promptly. Diagnose electrical problems using testing equipment and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure operational reliability. New Equipment Installation: Coordinate the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems, working closely with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Ensure that installations comply with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization of electrical systems to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement improvements and upgrades to equipment and processes. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, codes, and regulations, such as NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and OSHA regulations. Conduct safety audits and inspections of electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Training and Development: Provide training and technical support to maintenance technicians and operators on electrical systems, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions to ensure proper knowledge and skills transfer. Energy Management: Implement energy management strategies and initiatives to optimize energy usage and reduce operating costs. Identify opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvements through the use of advanced controls, monitoring systems, and renewable energy technologies. Emergency Response: Respond to electrical emergencies and outages to restore power and minimize disruptions to manufacturing operations. Develop contingency plans and procedures for handling electrical emergencies and coordinate with emergency response teams as needed. QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field. Must be a member of a recognised professional body. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. 6-8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on industrial automation, power distribution, and equipment maintenance. Must have steel manufacturing experience with large capacity plants (up to 1M tons) Strong technical proficiency in electrical engineering principles, including power systems, control systems, and instrumentation. Experience with electrical design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, PLC programming software, and electrical simulation software. Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations applicable to industrial facilities, such as NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards. Familiarity with industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, motor control systems, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical problems. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. 3000 - 3500 US Dollars per month Food, accommodation, transport all covered by company Apply Now
