Senior NOC Engineer - Cape Town City Centre
Our client based in Cape Town (CBD) is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior NOC Engineer to join their team. The Senior NOC Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability and security of the network infrastructure. The role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The role is shift-based, including night shifts - supporting network infrastructure (24/7 function).
Responsibilities:
- Monitor network performance, availability and security using network monitoring tools
- Respond promptly to network alerts, alarms and incidents, and take appropriate actions to resolve issues
- Use the appropriate communication channels to notify other team members of any outages or network issues
- Perform regular health checks and proactive maintenance to ensure network reliability and performance
- Investigate and troubleshoot network incidents and outages, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex network issues promptly
- Document incident details, resolutions and troubleshooting steps for future reference
- Plan, schedule and implement network changes, upgrades and configurations following established change management processes
- Perform risk assessments and impact analysis for proposed network changes to minimise disruptions
- Monitor and analyse network traffic for security threats and vulnerabilities, and take proactive measures to mitigate risks
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Junior Support Engineers, Senior Support Engineers, Principal Engineers, Management and Administration to address network issues
Role Requirements:
- Minimum required certifications: CCNA/MTCNA/JNCIA
- Minimum required experience: 2-5 years of working experience with a WISP/FISP or in a NOC
- Experience or qualification in Small Cell, DAS and Cellular technology
- Willing and able to work night shifts
- Ability to work quickly, calmy and decisively under pressure, and must be process-oriented in approach to work
