Purpose of the role:Leading a single, low to medium value project, against scope, safety, time, quality, cost, and productivity standards, through translation and achievement of financial goals, stakeholder management, commercial management, operational delivery and oversight.
Requirements:
- Civil Engineering or Construction Diploma or Equivalent Degree.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in respect of managing construction projects (groundworks or mining).
- Solid understanding of the Mining and Construction Industries.
- Must have managed minimum one project of R50 million by themselves.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical and operational aspects core to the construction industry.
- Professional or Candidate registration from the SACPCMP would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:- Executing project to support sustainability of the broader company, including reputation and meeting industry and market requirements.
- - Ensure compliance and adherence to standards, policies, procedures, practices and legislative requirements at all levels throughout the project operations.
- Ensure company initiatives and continuous improvement is implemented on the project.
- Monitor and control contract quantities through surveyor to ensure contract is measured monthly and timeously.
- Ensure standard accounting systems are adhered to, liaising closely with Site Accountants on costs / charges, and compiling cost reports and ensure all relevant queries are addressed.
- Compile and timeously submit daily, weekly and monthly cost report.
- Compile forecast programmes and reports for revenue, costs and allowable.
- Compile and achieve reliable cashflows to project completion.
- Optimize project margins by managing daily production, costs, subcontractors, scope of work, timelines and SHEQ standards.
- Assist Contract Manager or Operational director in final commercial close-out of projects.
- Ensure the project close-out is executed appropriately.
- Utilize plant and assets are managed and maintained according to agreed standards.
- Ensure the company's policy on social responsibility is adhered to.
- Be fully aware of the content and impact of new contracts ie General Conditions of Contract, Special Conditions, Specifications, Drawings; be aware of relevant legislation relating to the contract
- Lead safety on site. Work closely with appointed safety officer on all safety matters. Ensure a culture of safe work on site.
- Plan of temporary works designs and installations ie Camp Site, Compound, Batch Plants, etc. with the necessary approvals
- Take a coaching approach for the development of staff under their control.
