Unica Iron and Steel is a leading manufacturer of light and medium structural steel . We are located in the Babelegi Area in Pretoria, Gauteng. Established in 2006, the company has grown to over 800 staff operating from a 36000m2 facility where the company has garnered a reputation for manufacturing quality light structural sections (window sections, square bar and angle iron ) commercially. Instead of using iron ore, Unica Iron and Steel melts iron scrap, then rolls the resultant billets into structural steel. This fully integrated mini steel plant is the first of its kind in South Africa, with the concept originating from China and India. To design efficient strategies and fix equipment failures. Create preventive maintenance plans and train other employees to follow specific guidelines to avoid any future problems. Collect, record, analyse and keep track of equipment maintenance records and come up with maintenance schedules. Ensure the effective use of job cards, checklists, and maintenance procedures. Handling any documentation related to work tasks performed by the maintenance team. Attending to breakdowns and establishing the root cause. Designing of both mechanical and electrical drawings or facility layouts as assigned from time to time. Review, evaluate, and prioritize requests for maintenance. Report on activities, supplies, planned projects and make the necessary recommendations. to the maintenance manager. Inspect sites regularly, responding to complaints and evaluating plant status and needs. Identify and resolve maintenance, materials, supplies, and staffing problems. Full responsibility of general housekeeping within the department. Full responsibility of health & safety and environmental compliance of the department and affected areas. Full compliance with all the health & safety and environment legislations. Any other duties as directed by the Human Resource Manager/Maintenance Manager within the incumbent's skill level. Competencies Creating standard operating procedures for plant equipment and machinery. Keeping track of critical inventory spares. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001. Artisan qualification Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Sound understanding of maintenance systems. Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment. Apply Now
