This role will be responsible for the support of the purchasing of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company's operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality, BBBEE Level and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply for the company. Stock Management and Cycle Counts Plan and review continuous cycle stock counts conducted by the Storeman. Plan and conduct quarterly stock counts. Procurement Support Support the procurement process for goods and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets. Asist the Technical Buyer PV in ensuring compliance with company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures. Evaluate and assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers. Supplier and Relationship Management Expedite and manage problems and schedule changes, ensuring changes are reflected within the system. Ensure continuous supply of required goods, materials, or services, and communicate any supply problems that may pose a risk or impact on business operations. Research and evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs where possible. Negotiate contracts, improve pricing and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities for business savings. Assess, evaluate, and undertake performance reviews of suppliers to ensure SLA compliance and manage performance improvement activities. Maintain a professional and consistent approach to all supplier relationships and communication. Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communication. Purchase Order and Contract Management Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and organizational targets and requirements. Assist with tender applications to source pricing from potential suppliers. Evaluate existing and new suppliers and give input on supplier strategies. Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, and invoice issues. Take corrective action against poor-performing suppliers (NCR). Operational Support and Communication Liaise with production and project managers daily to ensure their material/equipment needs are met. Ensure the Consumables Stores always have the required consumables available for the production team to enable uninterrupted and efficient operations. Approve all stock requisitions and stock transfers, maintaining optimal stock levels. Ensure the SCM process adds value to the business through speedy procurement and delivery of material to production teams, sourced from the lowest cost suppliers without compromising quality and delivery. Maintain supply chain processes in line with the current SAGE/Qtation systems. Team Management and Reporting Manage Storemen and ensure that all processing as well as policies and procedures are followed diligently. Deliver briefs, updates, and reports as and when required. Compile monthly issues reports - job/non-job-related issues per store. Create, maintain, and update all required reports. Attend meetings and update stakeholders on issues or concerns, particularly when there is a risk of preventing the organization from meeting customer demands or overcapacity concerns. Ethics and Compliance Ensure all functions are carried out ethically and in line with procurement policies. Stay updated on changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials, and advise stakeholders of any impact. Miscellaneous Undertake any other reasonable tasks as required from time to time. Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering diploma or degree. 5 years procurement experience in fabrication and engineering environment.
